Capabilities & Functionality

The TDS is a rotary ultrasonic immersion inspection system fitted with either 6 or 7 axes featuring turntable diameters up to 2m. This system has been specifically designed to meet major technical specifications, and as such boasts precision-engineered linear and rotary axes, high accuracy motors and gearboxes and is offered with a variety of integrated ultrasonic solutions. The system also features Tieval’s bespoke TiCore software and full remote pendant support.

The system is capable of both rectilinear and rotary C-Scan inspection on metallic components with the following geometries:

Sheet – single curved, double curved, sloped or flat
Disc – single curved, double curved, sloped or flat
Ring – single curved, double curved, sloped or flat
Bar/Tube – subject to dimensions

System Features

6 or 7 Axis Scanning – The system can be configured with either 6 or 7 fully automated axes, which can scan a variety of components. The TDS can be configured for rectilinear, rotary, bar, slope or contour inspection at the touch of a button, with no need for tooling or fixturing changes.
Live A-Scan and C-Scan capture – The TDS displays live A-Scan data during C-Scan capture, allowing operators to identify defects in real time.
Bespoke Software – The system is coupled to our bespoke TiCore software. TiCore has been developed for the automated and semi-automated inspection of metallic and composite components and meets the requirements of major technical specifications. TiCore is routinely updated and upgraded as part of our commitment to progress.
Pendant Support – Upon request the system can be supplied with a Trio Teach Pendant which can be used for all aspects of motor control, scan programming and A-scan viewing.
Fully Customisable – Tieval specialise in bespoke automated and semi-automated systems. As such the TDS can be reconfigured to meet any customer requirement.
Major Technical Specification Compliance – As standard the TDS meets the requirements of major manufacturer technical specifications. For a full list of specifications that are currently supported please contact Tieval.
Precision Manufacturing – Each TDS is hand-built with precision-machined components in our UK factory by our team of experts.
Safety as Standard – All linear axes are fitted with electronic limit switches and bump stops as standard. An electrical isolator and multiple emergency stops are fitted to the system to improve operator safety.
Water Treatment – Water in the TDS is continuously circulated through mechanical cartridge filters (100µm and 5µm) and an ultraviolet water treatment unit to limit bacterial and particulate contamination. The circulated water also passes through a heater unit with an in-built programmable thermostat which maintains a consistent water temperature.
