Since the company's foundation in 2013 we have offered uninterrupted support to all systems created by Tieval. Unlike a number of other major NDT system manufacturers our team will always endeavour to upgrade and/or refurbish any Tieval system facing replacement due to component obsolescence. This reduces the environmental impacts associated with regularly replacing complete NDT systems and improves overall system life expectancy. Longer lasting machines offer better long-term return on investment potential.

As part of our commitment to our legacy systems, Tieval engineers recently upgraded and modernised a ~20 year old Midas NDT water jet system. After years of service the system was beginning to show signs of its long life, and as such required a major mechanical overhaul. As part of the work Tieval engineers replaced the drives, linear rails, rail beds & bearings in order to significantly improve the scan speed, reliability and alignment of the system. Our engineers also fitted new safety covers and a brand new water filtration system, in order to improve operational safety. These mechanical upgrades have translated into an increase in scan uniformity, allowing 99% of the scan values over the full working area, to be within ±3dB.

I just wanted to write a quick post about our fully integrated teach pendant for easy control and programming. Most of our customers are happy using the motion panel embedded within the software but for those with larger systems or in instances where the control tower must be situated some distance from the machine, computer control is impractical or impossible. The teach pendant allows the operator full system control using independent jog buttons for each axis or combined controls for slopes, contours and kinematic moves. At the push of a button, coordinates can be sent to TiCore for easy remote scan pattern programming. The ultrasonic gate output means you can also check the signal response without having to run back and forth between the system and the controller. The pendant talks directly with the controller for maximised response time and the unit is hard-wired with an in-built emergency stop for enhanced safety and regulatory compliance. This is available to purchase on new systems or as an upgrade to existing EtherCAT based systems.
24 April 2024
This month (and a bit...) has been far from mundane! On top of routine calibration and service visits (spread over 3 continents), since our last post we've installed and commissioned a new system in Zhuhai (China), exhibited at the fantastic BINDT Aerospace Event in Filton (Bristol, UK) and are in the middle of building 2 new inspection systems. We've had a strong start to 2024 and we're showing no signs of slowing!

Needless to say, it has been a while since my last post. We've been busier than ever with system builds, new orders, as well as routine calibrations and maintenance visits. This week we shipped 3 new M403T systems, two of them destined for San Diego and one for Zhuhai. We're also in the process of manufacturing two new bespoke systems; a 5-axis rectilinear system and a specialist composite web inspection system. In order to meet growing demand, Tieval have taken on a new Field Service Engineer and would like to take this opportunity to publicly welcome Rich to the team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of CAD and mechanical engineering. In other news, Tieval will be exhibiting at the 'Aerospace Event 2024' in Filton so, if you're planning on attending or exhibiting, we look forward to seeing you there!
