Capabilities & Functionality

The TSS inspection system is an ultrasonic immersion system with fully configurable automated axes and probe normalisation. The system has been designed to offer automated and semi-automated pulse-echo and through transmission inspection of metallic and composite rod, bar and tube. As standard the TSS is compliant with major technical specifications.

Solid bar or rod – up to 500mm in diameter
Tube – up to 500mm in diameter
Contoured rod, bar or tube – up to 500mm in diameter

System Features

Multi Axis Scanning – The system can be configured with a variety of fully automated axes and automated or manual probe normalisation. The TSS can be configured for helical, slope or contour C-scan inspection at the touch of a button, with no need for tooling or fixturing changes. Upon request the TSS can be configured for pulse-echo or through transmission C-scan inspection of metallic and composite components.
Live A-Scan and C-Scan capture – The TSS displays live A-Scan data during C-Scan capture, allowing operators to identify defects in real time.
Bespoke Software – The system is coupled to our bespoke TiCore software. TiCore has been developed for the automated and semi-automated inspection of metallic and composite components and meets the requirements of major technical specifications. TiCore is routinely updated and upgraded as part of our commitment to progress.
Pendant Support – Upon request the system can be supplied with a Trio Teach Pendant which can be used for all aspects of motor control, scan programming and A-scan viewing.
Fully Customisable – Tieval specialise in bespoke automated and semi-automated systems. As such the TSS can be reconfigured to meet any customer requirement.
Major Technical Specification Compliance – As standard the TSS meets the requirements of major manufacturer technical specifications. For a full list of specifications that are currently supported please contact Tieval.
Precision Manufacturing – Each TSS is hand-built with precision-machined components in our UK factory by our team of experts.
Safety as Standard – All linear axes are fitted with electronic limit switches and bump stops as standard. An electrical isolator and multiple emergency stops are fitted to the system to improve operator safety.
Water Treatment – Water in the TSS is continuously circulated through mechanical cartridge filters (100µm and 5µm) and an ultraviolet water treatment unit to limit bacterial and particulate contamination. Upon request a heater unit with an in-built programmable thermostat can be added to maintain a constant water temperature.
